The Launch of the Responsible Metaverse
Responsible Metaverse Alliance
Find out how you can play your part to keep our Metaverse safe
What is the metaverse?
The metaverse is a set of immersive technologies that enable social connection in three-dimensional (3D) virtual universes that resemble reality. Big Tech companies have earmarked the Metaverse as the next significant technological advancement and as such are investing heavily.
A utopian picture of the metaverse is painted, including the ability to improve collaboration, make education, entertainment and healthcare more accessible, but there is a potential sinister side to the metaverse that needs to be considered.
Toxic and abusive behaviors, identity fraud and scams and hyper engagement just to name a few. The Responsible Metaverse Alliance aims to be proactive in limiting the sinister potential of the metaverse while maximizing the benefits to a diverse range of users.

The AVR Lab attending RMA’s launch
Alex Karamouzis from The AVR Lab attended the Launch of the Responsible Metaverse Alliance on July 20th. An event of great importance to the development of a fair and equitable Metaverse, that was attended by Human Rights Commissioner, Lorraine Finlay, eSafety Commissioner, Julie Inman-Grant, US based Unanimous AI CEO and Metaverse Luminary, Louis Rosenberg, UK based Kabuni CEO and Champion for Metaverse Safety, Nina Jane Patel, Data and Tech Strategist, Ben Morley-John and the builder of the RMA NFT Office, Jaden Rubinstein, CEO of the Estates NFT.
The Responsible Metaverse Alliance charter is founded on four key pillars:
- Developing Responsible Practices for designers, artists, creators and suppliers into the Metaverse
- Platform Regulation – advise on and develop protocols, guidelines, regulations and laws for the Metaverse
- Bridging of worlds – recommend key factors to bridge the relationship between the virtual world, the digital world and the real world
- Inclusiveness – developing guidelines to ensure that the design of the Metaverse has inclusiveness at its core
At The AVR Lab, we champion equality and diversity at an organisational level. As such, we can certainly see the need for proactive action rather than reactive adjustments in new and exciting spaces.
